A bi-fold brochure or folded leaflet is a very used tool in direct marketing. It allows you to express straightforwardly and, in a summary, the service or product benefits of your brand.

Bi-fold brochures usually comprise a sheet folded in half, resulting in two panels, unlike tri-fold brochures, that have two folds and three panels and can be a bend in “Z” or twice over the middle section.

When designing folded leaflets, you must consider the advertising message you want to include, as other relevant element as pictures, logos and graphic assets. Take care of distribution and content delivery to be balanced with the rest of pieces. Nowadays, there is a clear predominance of visual and we do not recommend overwhelming clients with tons of information.
Depending on the dimensions of the brochure, we recommend you to work from start with sizes of printing and noting the fold in the center. We left you some tips to design your layout with the correct setup towards the final file for printing:
- Your page or workspace must be a little larger than printing size. This so you can save your file with bleeds and margins, avoiding whites around your layout or cut mistakes, in case your design has a coloured background.
- There are plenty of fonts. Choose an easy-to-read one and ensure that all images, pictures and graphic assets have high resolution.
- Include trim lines. This going to be the actual cut of your final design.
- Work contemplating a safe zone and folding line for text and other element disposition. Keep away texts or images beyond this safe margins or in the middle to avoid difficulty the readability for your target audience.
- Design, on one page or workspace, the front and back of your folded leaflet (exterior part) and on a second page or workspace, the interior part of it.
- Save your design in PDF format.

Your final artwork, flat inks and Pantone be converted to CMYK, this can causes unexpected colors, saturation and brightness variations in printing.
